Alfa Laval underscores the importance of energy efficiency during Minister Hermans’ visit to Centrient Pharmaceuticals
During a working visit to Centrient Pharmaceuticals - Dutch Minister of Climate and Green Growth - Sophie Hermans saw firsthand how energy efficiency works in practice as a driver of both sustainability and competitiveness. The visit took place at the invitation of the Dutch Association for Sustainable Energy (NVDE) and was coorganized by ABB, Alfa Laval, DCMR and Centrient.
In Delft, the minister was shown examples of technologies with exceptionally short payback times. Olof van der Gaag, Chair of the NVDE, emphasized the impact: “Some technologies at Centrient have a payback time of just a few hours. Energy efficiency is the fastest and smartest climate gain.”

Centrient’s approach illustrates how investments in energy efficient technologies lead to lower energy bills, reduced downtime of installations, and structural cost savings. In addition, this contributes to socially important objectives such as reducing grid congestion, increasing strategic independence, and using space and resources more efficiently.

During the visit, Minister Hermans spoke with representatives from Centrient, NVDE, the environmental authority and members of the international Energy Efficiency Movement (EEM): a network of more than 500 companies from the industry, energy and ICT sectors. Together, they called for greater action on energy saving measures with a payback time of up to five years. Van der Gaag noted: “With targeted support and inspiring examples like Centrient, we can take major steps in a short period of time.”

Alfa Laval supports this ambition with proven solutions for heat transfer and process optimization, enabling industrial customers to significantly reduce their energy consumption and CO₂ emissions.
